The autobiography is written with the help of Jeffrey Zaslow, an American author and journalist-cum columnist for The Wall Street Journal.

The film is based on Captain Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger, a US Airways pilot who is known for the flight incident “Miracle on the Hudson.” The incident was about the flight emergency landing on the Hudson River in New York in January 2009. The film stars Tom Hank as in the lead role of pilot, along with Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn and others.

Plot of the movie

A pilot of US Airways, Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger along with his First Officer Jeffery Skiles boards the US Airways’ Airbus A320 aircraft. The flight routes New York to Charlotte, North Carolina. Within few minutes in the air, the flight got into a severe term as both the engines disabled. Finally, Captain Sully decides to land the aircraft on the Hudson River.

After the incident, the pilot along with the crew was hailed as heroes. Within some days, as the investigation goes on, Captain Sully was blamed for the incident. There were many hurdles for Sully to prove him innocent and lastly hailed as a hero for taking the right decision at the right time.

Critical response to the movie was more than 80% positive, even actor Tom Hank was praised very much for the role. The critics praise the film for accuracy with the real incident, and also a compliment of excellent works of the supporting actors as well. The film also did a good business in the theaters, and the box office collection more than $132 million.
