Robert De Niro is an American actor as well as a producer who has American as well as Italian citizenship. He acted as young Vito Corleone in the Godfather part 2 for which is also won a number of awards.
His early life
Robert De Niro was born in Greenwich Village area of Manhattan, New York to Virginia Admiral and Robert De Niro Sr. His parents were painters who met at painting classes and got married and then divorced when he was two years old because his father was said to be gay. His mother raised Niro, but Niro also spent time with his father. His grandparents baptized him into the Catholic Church. De Niro attended PS 41, a public elementary school in Manhattan till sixth grade after which he went to Elisabeth Irwin High School. He then attended the high school of Music and Art in the ninth grade. He also played a cowardly lion in the wizard of OZ when he started acting.
His acting career
He was cast as young Vito Corleone in the Godfather Part 2 for which he also won academy awards for best supporting actor.
He also received Academy Awards for Best Actor for his portrayal of Jake La Motta in the 1980 film Raging Bull. He received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2003, Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama and Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2010.He acted in films like Bang the Drum Slowly, Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, the Awakenings, The Deer Hunter, Silver Linings, and Playbook. He also portrayed gangster Jimmy Conway in the Good fellas and his role in the black comedy film The King OF comedy. Robert De Niro is one of the most talented actors who has done justice to all his roles and stands to pass the test of time.
