For all the horror movie lovers out there, producer along with co-writer Guillermo del Toro brings Alvin Schwartz’s most awaited children’s famous book series ‘Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark’ to the big screen. Schwartz’s book talks about the anthology of spooky self-contained short stories that was quite popular in the 1980s. Based on folklore and urban myths, here, the stories are bind together as a group of creepy prophecies.
In the fiction town of Mill Valley, Pennsylvania, there is a group of nerd teens who is led by the aspiring writer Stella (played by Zoe Colletti) break into broken, old and dilapidated mansion. According to the local legends, the Bellows family of the mansion kept their daughter Sarah locked up because of some vengeance, she would tell scary stories to children through the walls of the mansion. When Stella steals Sarah’s book of all the stories, her aggrieved spirit is reanimated. As the book departs, the film adopts to a period setting, which is taking place in the weeks that leads up to Nixon’s election in 1968. The stories become way too real for the teens, leading up to horrific events. For a horror film fanatic, this movie is creepy and different from others.
