Auli’i Cravalho was born on 22nd November 2000. She is a well-known American actress and singer. She has made her voice-acting debut as the title character in the 2016 Disney Film Moana.

Her Early Life

Cravalho was born in Kohata in Hawaii. She is of Chinese, Irish, Portuguese, Porto Rican and native Hawaiian origin and her surname comes from a derivative of common Portuguese surname, Carvalho. She was living in Mililani, Hawaii with her mother when she made her first debut breakthrough. She was also the freshman year of high school at Kamehameha Schools Kalama campus. Cravalho is a soprano and sings in her school’s glee club. She is a very good singer.

Her career

Cravalho had initially stated that she was not going to audition for Moana as there were already a number of submissions over You Tube. There was, however, an agent from Oahu who encouraged her to audition for the role of the voice of the main protagonist. Cravalho was known to be the last person to audition out of so many hundreds of voices for Moana. In the press release of the casting, director John Musker said that, she was cast as Moana because she was fearless during her auditions and callbacks. She is known to have a playful and mischievous wit and she is not intimidated by the challenges ahead of her. Her Polynesian background has also helped her to shape her connection to her family, hard work and lots of music.


Cravalho is a very talented actress and a singer who has done really well in her debut movie and she is yet expected to do very well in her future years.
